The Asus EEE Box Server - Samba Install

We are going to install Samba next, this is the bit of software that makes you Linux machine appear on a network as a WIndows machine. We need to go to the package manager to do this and the icon for this is in the task bar, so click on this.

It will ask you for your root password so put this in and then you should get this screen.

Click on Search and type in Samba.

You will then see a list of all the files with the word Samba in them.

We want to install the ones shown in green below, so riight click on each one and select Install.

Then click on Apply on the top bar, this dialogue box will pop up so click on apply on this one too.

And then sit back while it installs the software.

Once it's done you will get this message up, click close and then close down the package manager.

Samba is now installed, it's not running yet so the next thing to do is a bit of configuring and adding any users.
